I've got an idea for a fishing Idle game inspired by Stardew Valley's Fishing mechanics. The prototype is just purely the mechanics of the game. I plan to have more features in the future.
Here are some of the features I wanted to implement:

  • Upgrades system that enhances fishing experience.
You will be able to upgrade your fishing experience by the amount of money you earn
  • A Quest System
This system will feature an NPC where they will buy certain fishes from you and award you with either Money or Equipment. However, not all NPCs are rewarding, there will be certain NPCs that will try to steal your fishes from you.
  • Equipment
You are only allowed to equip one equipment at one time. Equipment will grant you certain buffs that will help you get more fishes. One of the equipment I have in mind is Equipment that doubles your reward
  • Roguelike Elements
This feature might be a little bit ambitious as this is the reason why I need some feedback on the mechanics. I'm trying to get a clear idea on how to execute this properly as I don't want the game to be very unbalanced. I'm also trying to look for more ideas for this to work.
At the end of the week, the player need to accumulate enough Money OR Fishes for that week. if they failed to do so, they have to restart their run.
  • Different Scenes and Settings
After maxing out your upgrades, you get to access new fishing scenes with new fishes. NPCs you meet in new scenes will be different and your upgrades will have different values and you will restart the upgrades

I'd love to hear what you think of the game! Your feedback is super valuable.

Errror to report: Can buy all upgrades to max without any money.

The upgrades are not functional for now as I want to test out the main gameplay and mechanics first
